30 Whole 30 Breakfasts

The new year rolling in is the quintessential time to revamp your breakfast repertoire. An effective way to start the day is with a meal full of protein and vegetables, like that described in the Whole 30 plan. If you don’t already have my book, Paleo Lunches and Breakfasts on the Go, which has TONS of great ideas for delicious breakfasts, check out this list. Below are 30 breakfasts that are sure to get you out of bed and out the door. I tend to just eat leftovers or something easy as my “Meal 1” – which can be anything from a can of sardines, some salmon and veggies or beef stew. However, if you’re looking for a more traditional breakfast to start your day, check out my ideas, and I’ve even thrown in some “outside the box” suggestions to expand your concept of what breakfast can be:

The Basics: Eggs

A Whole 30 twist on a classic with Sweet Potato hash with Fried Eggs from Nom Nom Paleo

Making egg muffins is one of the best strategies for a quick, versatile breakfast. This recipe from My Natural Family is a canvas for endless varieties of egg muffins.

Presentation is the most attractive feature in Joyful Healthy Eat’s Egg in a Hole recipe. Also a good way to use up any surplus basil. Just be sure to omit the Parmesan from the pesto.

Adding greens to your breakfast is a great way to start the day off right. Good Cheap Eats does just that with this recipe for skillet poached eggs.

Frittatas are basically a quiche without the crust. This recipe from Meatified is another example of how a frittata can become a canvas for endless varieties of ingredients.

A lot of people enjoy drinking their breakfast because it can eaten on the go. A breakfast with the addition of bone broth is a satisfying and warm way to start the chilly winter mornings. This recipe from The Real Food Guide provides a recipe for bone broth made in a slow cooker.

Not so Traditional Toasts

Traditional toast is not Whole 30 compliant, but how about using sweet potatoes as toasts? Creating a vehicle for all sorts of tasty toppings. Follow the recipe from @TheWhettAppetite and Whole 30.

Use up those Leftovers

Don’t restrict yourself to traditional breakfasts food for your morning meal. Expand your horizon, and eat leftovers from the night before to start your day. Of course you can always top it with an egg.

I have many times topped leftover Brussels Sprouts & Bacon with an egg to create a filling, delectable morning meal.

Throw the ingredients in the crock pot overnight and you can nosh on chicken, sweet potato and kale stew from Multiply Delicious for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
